N-Ethylhexedrone – Chemical Structural Data
As a substituted cathinone and featuring a phenethylamine sore, N-Ethylhexedrone is part of the well-studied stimulant subgroup.
N-Ethylhexedrone – Structure-Activity & Chemical Similarity Predictions
Based on the chemical similarity of N-Ethylhexedrone with other Cathinone type compounds and the close chemical structure to Hexedrone and Pentedrone, it is believed to act as a stimulant chemical with properties not too dissimilar to other known Cathinones.
It is believed that due to the addition of the Ethyl group to the hexedrone core, the subjective potency of affinity to stimulant receptors would be markedly increased.
Most likely, it is predicted that N-Ethylhexedrone would act on the dopamine and norepinephrine transporter proteins, mainly as a potent releasing agent and re-uptake inhibitor.
N-Ethylhexedrone – Discovery, History & Research
N-Ethylhexedrone was first described in the literature as early as August 1969 in a series of patent applications by BOEHRINGER SOHN INGELHEIM. Patent numbers DE19651545591 19650528 were used in the official application.
After the first patent application was completed on a series of modified cathinones, N-Ethylhexedrone became part of a larger discover leading to the more famous MDPV or methylenedioxypyrovalerone. From around 2010, N-Ethylhexedrone has been made available to the research chemical community and has been sold online for this purpose.
Since then, various countries including the UK, Japan and Sweden have since made it illegal and placed it their respective banned substances lists.
There is very little research conducted on N-Ethylhexedrone to date. Most of the studies published are identifiying the forensic and toxicological identification of the novel compound found in “legal high” samples. A list of some of the more notable research conducted on N-Ethylhexedrone can be found below:
